St Augustine’s Medical Practice is set to move from its current site on Station Road in Keynsham to bigger, purpose-built premises in the town’s Chocolate Quarter.
The Keynsham surgery will close its doors at 1.00pm on Friday, 12 January and will move into the Chocolate Quarter at the Chocolate Factory over the weekend in time to re-open at 8am on Monday 15 January. St Augustine’s Saltford branch surgery is not affected by the move and will be functioning as normal throughout this period.
The premises at Station Road are over a century old and have been used as a GP practice for at least fifty years. The Partners and Practice team at St Augustine’s have been planning to relocate for nearly two years in order to provide bigger, more modern facilities that can keep pace with a growing local population and increased demand for health and care services.
The new premises include improved disabled access, a state-of art minor surgery suite, 12 consultation rooms and more spacious staff facilities. They are located less than quarter of a mile away from the current site and are situated on the ground floor of what used to be the home of Fry’s chocolate and is now the new retirement complex, run by St Monica Trust. There is a regular bus service to the Chocolate Factory and dedicated car parking for patients.
Nick Woodward, Senior Partner at St Augustine’s said; “We are delighted to be moving the Keynsham branch of our Practice to the Chocolate Quarter. These modern premises will offer superb facilities to both our patients and staff. Whilst retaining our Saltford surgery, the new premises will offer more parking for patients and there will be a regular bus service to the site. This is great for our patients and enables our practice to support Keynsham’s ever growing population.”
“The new facilities also mean we can look in the future to offer more services for the benefit of our patients. We are also pleased to have St Monica Trust as our new landlord and look forward to working with this not-for-profit local organisation to develop health and care services for the local community.”
The practice’s relocation has been supported by Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England as part of their strategy to strengthen primary care and ensure it is sustainable and resilient for the future.
St Augustine’s Medical Practice is one of 26 GP practices in Bath and North East Somerset and was rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission in 2016.
